Dell Extends Focus On Internet Infrastructure Market; Internet Partner Division Targets Significant Piece of $180 Billion Opportunity.

Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL), a world leader in Internet commerce and integration, today launched the first in a series of initiatives as part of its overall plan to be the premier provider of Internet infrastructure.

These initiatives will focus on providing customers the products, services and direct relationships to facilitate their individual Internet initiatives.

Dell's new Internet Partner Division, introduced today, will leverage Dell's years of expertise as an e-business pioneer to provide customers the servers, storage and services to build, expand or enhance their own Internet infrastructures and capabilities.

Internet data center customers, which include Web hosters, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Application Service Providers (ASPs), will especially benefit from this new, focused Dell business unit. Dell estimates that the size of the Internet infrastructure market for server and storage hardware could be as large as $180 billion during the next six years.

Announcements of additional initiatives to enhance Dell's capabilities as the leading Internet infrastructure provider will follow in the next several weeks and months.

Dell is the world's No. 2 PC server provider(a) and has sold PowerEdge(tm) server and PowerVault(tm) storage products to companies such as Fast Search &Transfer ASA (FAST) and Interliant.

Dell has teamed with FAST to build the world's largest Internet search engine.
