SA: Adelaide university signs agreements with Beijing uni

ADELAIDE, April 8 AAP - The University of Adelaide has signed three cooperative agreements
with the prestigious Tsinghua University in China.

University of Adelaide vice-chancellor James McWha said today the agreements with the
Beijing university were an important milestone.

The agreements would enable the University of Adelaide to offer its foundation studies
program in partnership with Tsinghua, and to attract graduates from Beijing to South
Australia for postgraduate work and research degree programs.

Tsinghua was currently rated the top university in China by a national ranking system,
Professor McWha said.

He said the first intake for the Adelaide foundation studies program would occur this
November, with a target of between 80 and 100 students.
