VIC: Tattersall s forced to abort OZ lotto draw
A falty sensor has been blamed for a malfunction in the ball machine which forced
Tattersall's to abort its live OZ Lotto draw for the first time on Channel 7 last night.
Only one of the numbers was allowed, the first drawn ball number 18. A backup machine was
brought in to complete the draw off screen.
The drawing equipment malfunctioned, pulling up the balls faster than normal, after the
first ball was drawn during the telecast.
The eventual winner of the $1.2 million first prize for draw No. 287, is from Western
Australia with the official numbers 18, 35, 27, 28, 25 and 30, and supplementaries 16 and 17.
It's only the third time there's been a problem with the drawing machine since Lotto was
introduced in Australia 27 years ago.
